Getting Started

At Sugar Hill Hop, our Thursday night classes offer the perfect opportunity to learn the joyful art of the Lindy Hop. Whether you’re taking your first steps or looking to enhance your existing skills, we’ve got you covered with two fantastic classes that will get you moving and grooving.

Doors to our first class opens at 6:50 PM then runs to 7:50 PM and is perfect for beginners or those building their foundations. The second class follows from 8:00 PM to 8:50 PM, focusing on improvers and intermediate steps plus techniques for dancers ready to expand their repertoire. You’re welcome to join either class individually for £15 per class.

We believe in making dancing accessible and rewarding, which is why we offer our popular class cards. For £110, you’ll get 10 classes – that’s a saving that you can use across any of our Thursday sessions. No partner is needed, as we rotate partners throughout the class, creating a friendly and social atmosphere where everyone can learn and have fun together. Just bring comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and your enthusiasm!

If at any time during the class you need to take a little breather or a sip of water, please do so without disrupting the class. Let your partner know you’ll be back and take the time you need.

After Class

After class, we share learning review videos to help you revisit, recap, and refine what you’ve covered – supporting your ongoing progress. These videos are shared within a group (details to join that group will be available in class) where you can ask questions about the material and receive additional context about the dance, its history, and its techniques.

We’d love you to join us for a drink and a chat after we leave the classroom. Many of our dancers head to a nearby pub to relax, get to know one another, share stories, and continue building the welcoming community that makes social dancing so special. Whether you’re coming on your own or with friends, it’s a great opportunity to make new connections, ask questions and get to know the people around you in a relaxed environment.
